Mike Leitensdorfer, President of Communitronics PRO AV System Integrators, has created a pairing with wine as natural as cheese or chocolate - music. Pouring sound from an empty bottle into a room full of unsuspecting guests cleverly disguises the source and becomes a conversation piece as music invisibly fills the room.
When designing and installing the sound system for a customer’s stunning wine cellar, Mike came up with the idea for a wine bottle speaker to avoid detracting from the room’s atmosphere and appeal. He found that the speaker, disguised as a bottle filled with wine, prompted such questions as, "Where is the sound coming from?" and when the answer was revealed, "Where can I get one?"
Tucking and sealing an RDL ST-PA6 amplifier into the belly of a wine bottle is a subtle yet smart attempt at blending the music with its source. Familiar with the quality of RDL products and knowing that, because of the sealed-in design, a failed product would result in the destruction of the entire speaker, Mike chose to use the ST-PA6 for its compact size and reliability.
In its earliest stages of development, Mike knew that this novelty item was more comparable to normal computer speaker quality than the source for rock-concert type settings, but acoustically, he found that glass worked better than he ever imagined. And every listener has instantly been impressed with the product’s quality of sound.
Mike's wine bottle speaker can fit into any environment, from cellars to wineries to in-home bars, and the very nature of its design allows creativity in placement and use. This hidden technique not only maintains a desired ambiance with the disappearance of a traditional, obviously placed speaker, it allows background music to stay in its place. And just as unique as its concept is the option to dress the bottle in a custom label with your custom text or logo. Each wine bottle speaker utilizes a 1/8" stereo mini jack for the audio input allowing an MP3 player or many other common audio sources to be utilized.
A glass of wine is only good to the last drop, but for the price of a fancy bottle ($299), the wine bottle speaker, with its clever design and reliable sound source, keeps on pouring.
